WELLNESS: BOOK SALES IN THE AUSTRALIAN WELLNESS SECTOR GENERATED OVER $122.7M IN 2020

Bestselling Non Fiction books have always been rather indicative of a society’s priorities, and in 2020 this was no exception. While the normal routines of life were disrupted in Australia due to COVID-19 lockdowns, many turned to the printed word for education, entertainment and consolation.

Looking at the titles currently at the top of the BookScan Australia Wellness charts, we see a blend of new releases and backlist, with the top two titles released in March 2021 (Jordan Peterson’s Beyond Order, Penguin Random House and Nicole LePera’s How To Do The Work, Hachette) and the oldest title in the Top 10 published in 2018 (James Clear’s Atomic Habits, Penguin Random House).

Three of the Top 10 Wellness titles in Period 3 2021 deal with physical health and diets with the remaining seven focused on issues such as mental health, personal growth and feminism.

In the Nielsen Book Wellness 2020 Australia Trend report, we provide comprehensive insights into market trends, including monthly sales trends, genres, bestselling titles and authors, publishers, sales at various price points and discounting levels.
